Water pump cost - $350?

1991 Kawasaki ZX-6, high miles (probable newer engine); runs great but
leaks oil like a sieve. Mech says it's a bad water pump. Won't
esimtate cost until he gets in there; ordered "new" one at nearly
$200. Assume installation is about $150.

For anybody with similar experience, does $350 sound about right? Or
am I looking at more?
It doesn't sound extortionate for a job where you're not going to get your
hands dirty. And of course, the work and the parts will have a shiny new
guarantee. Fit the pump yourself and you may lose that.

PS. This is my son's "new" bike. The thing runs like a freakin'
rocket; I rode it home from where he bought it 45 miles away. It was
hard not to exceed 80 on the thing. The MPH markings were so close on
the speedo that 60 and 80 were less than in inch apart. And it went
from 60-80 extremely - almost too - easily. Fairly comfy ride for a
They need a lot of revs to make them REALLY go and if you were in top gear
at 60 and accelerated to 80 without changing down to 4th or 3rd, wait until
you do. You'll know what acceleration is on a Kwaka then.

Fairly comfy ride for a

sportsbike.
A little too "focused" for my back though.
