Local dealers
|
I've been ranting about local dealers and their apparent lack of
concern about carrying what I'd consider to be common parts for dirt
bikes lately.
Currently, I need a throttle tube for the YZ250F. It's the same part
number for every year the part has been in existence. No one within
100 miles has one. None of the aftermarket places have one.
Realizing that a lot of the 250Fs use the same carb, I checked the
Motion Pro catalogue and found that the Kawasaki and Suzuki use the
same MotionPro part as the Yamaha. So, I started calling Kawasaki
shops in the area.
None of them had the OEM part, but one did have the Motion Pro.
Now here's the new deal I'm bumping up against. Motion Pro lists the
MSRP on this part as $9.90 on their Website.
The local Kaw shop has it, but they've decided it's worth $18.95.
I don't know how much of a markup there is on this exact part, but
based on conversations I've had with friends in other shops, I'd
suspect that they pay around $6.00 for it.
I don't fault anyone for trying to make a profit. Not at all. And
I'm trying REALLY, REALLY hard to support the local guys.
Am I out of line thinking that this particular part from this
particular dealer needs to come with a personal size tube of KY Jelly?
