bike test query
|
Got the bike, helmet, gloves, leathers, boots, failed the feckin test!!
Cost me =A3650 for three days bike training, including bike hire and
test. The bike hired to me by the training centre was a kawasaki ER-5
with a dodgy throttle and sticky gearbox.
|
Name and shame. You've been ripped off.
|
My CBT/DAS was 4 days and cost £600 incl bike hire, test fee and insurance
waiver.
Best £600 I have ever spent.
|
Some of us would disagree with that statement...

Blimey, that sounds expensive. I paid £550 for FOUR days + bike
hire/insurance + test. And this is in an area of south London where I'd
imagine training schools can get away with charging a bit of a premium
compared with the rest of the UK.
|
Its gonna cost another =A3288 to resit the test with another days bike
hire and an hour pre-test using the same bike, but i would need to wait
until the next available slot in the schools training schedule which is
21st august.
|
I think the practical test costs £58, so you're being charged £230 for a
day's bike hire + some training. Again, that seems to be way more than
the going rate to me.
|
I have checked the DSA website and i can book a test in two weeks.
I would prefer to get experience and sit the test using my own bike
GS500.
Question is, do i need to be accompanied by an approved instructor
whilst learning on the road and do i need to be accompanied by an
instructor on my test day? ( or can i magically turn up at the test
centre with my bike ready for the test)
I will already have insurance in place before any test or road
training.
|
As others have said, you can't ride the bike to the test center without
an approved instructor with you. I also doubt your insurance actually
covers you riding the GS500 regardless of whether you have an instructor
with you or not, as your holding a valid licence to ride the bike is
probably one of their terms.
Why don't you find another training school that can fit you in before
the 21st August? Preferably one that charges a bit less - or one that
offers a guaranteed pass scheme.
