Curious (paging Platy too)

I was flipping through ebay after seeing platys moment of madness and
checked on his R80RT (ebay no: : 4621404789) that he'd sold. For me,
one of the questions stood out.

"Q: Would you be interested in a swap for my Kawasaki KZ1000-P American
police bike with MOT?"

Well, I had one [1] of these for about 6 months before I left the UK.
Shortly after I sold it on, it was half-inched (I knew this, as the new
owners InsCo called me about it).

Granted, it could have been found and returned to the previous owner,
but is this likely? After all, how many other Merkin Z-thou plod bikes
are there likely to be in the UK?
Quite a few. My mate Chris had one[1]. he converted it to dual seat, but
kept the panniers, screen, lights etc and like you, used it as a budget
tourer.

[1] From Providence, Rhode Island, according to the police sticker.
I think there's quite a few, actually.
I know I probably couldn't have had the only one, but I'd be interested
to see how many there are running around the UK.
There's one in Autotrader...

I quite fancy one.... But I'd never get it through my yard gate...

There are two I know of in Brighton.

BTW, Platy, do you have the contact details of the person that asked
you the Q? I'm interested in seeing if the bike is still up for an
offer (if it's all above board, that is).
I'll dig it out and email you.
Abject failure, then. Send me an unmunged email to platypus@ukrm.org and
Done. Ta.

I'll try again.

[1] I really liked this, as it was really comfortable on long distance
runs.
