semi ot: m25/M3

I've got to drive (the car) on Saturday from my place to Hook in
Hampshire. The most obvious route is round the M25 and then onto the
M3 - however the last couple of times I tried this, the traffic was
horrific.

The traffic is dreadful everywhere ATM. I'd stick with the motorway.

you're probably right - at least there no chance of getting lost that
way.

A3 at J10 not M3

The A3 is not a good choice for getting to Hook (Hants)

Anyone know if it would make more sense to leave the M25 at J13 and
then take the A30 over to Hook?

you can, but I bet you will hardly see a difference
if you've got throught to J13 then you've past most of the problem
and the A3 is reasonable at the moment (apart from Hindhead)

It can be a bit messy getting out of the Smoke on the A30.

I've not got a map to hand so can't see if this is a bit out of your
way, but the Last time I was out that way I dropped down from Reading on
the M4, via the A33 and a B road.. Didn't run into any traffic..

I thought about that, but it means too much frigging about with
unknown B roads.

This actually makes a lot of sense - it's probably 15 mins from J11 of
the M4 to Hook.

At least getting on to the M4 is easier than the M3.

know where ginge's gaff is, but here's a thought or two. If the M25 is
stuffed before the M4, try M40 to Jct 4 then down the Marlow bypass to the
M4. Then what you've suggested. Iffen it is really fecked, come off at the
Rickmansworth turn off, go via the A412 to the M40.
