Honda Hurricane 600
|
I have the opportunity to get this bike for $2500. It has 10,000, mint
condition, 1986 model. Any ideas if this is a good price? Thanks
|
Not really. It's old so parts and rubbers are going to be a problem.
|
Could always live dangerously and forgo rubbers completely....
|
Newer 600s are a totally different experience. And for another grand
you can get a late model 600.
|
|
My gut reaction is no, unless you know for sure that it's really been
babied and stored properly. 10k miles over 20 years is only 500
miles/year and my guess is that it's probably been neglected somewhat
during at least a few of its off seasons.
Admit it- you're trying to outdistance me in the bike collecting game,
no?

Hi Sue,
Did they make the Hurricane in 86? For some reason I thought it was
introduced in 87.
I can't speak for your market, but up here that bike in good condition
would sell for somewhere in the two grand range. Canadian of course.
2.5K is probably a little high, but if you are truly lusting after the
ride, try a little negotiating. From what I recall when Honda

Hi Don
I think they were a year off on the bike. I told them about the Nada price
but they think they're sitting on a collectors item. I don't think so. I
offered the guy $1200 which was fair and they are holding to the $2500.
I'm past the lusting now. At my age it doesn't last too long

introduced the 600 and the 1000 it was a bit of a turning point for
the sport bikes of the day.
But what the heck do I know. All I recall of the 80's is that blasted
disco music.
|
Blasted is correct. I rebuilt my WinXP partition, then found out now my
daughter can't play her paid for MSN music files, because you must manually
backup the license rights file (dreaded DRM, beats me why their software
doesn't automatically include the license in My Music folder).
I now think correct way is to buy plastic (CD's) then rip them.

Which aside from the really old 50's stuff I find on the net, is what

I blocked memories of that "music" out with hypnosis :-)
