Honda accessories for recent bikes?
|
I got a good 'nuf price on my '05 Honda VT750C that I don't mind
putting some money into it for a windshield, backrest, and saddle bags.
I've poked around Goggle ans eBAY and see prices vary from $179 for a
"complete" backrest with mounting hware to over $300 for Honda's with
luggage rack. Some vendors say they adhere to strict Hondaline OEM
sizes; others don't say.
What do you recent Honda owners do for accessories?
|
Shop around:
(Aero 750 complete backrest, Hondaline original accessory, $98)
|
That's a good deal, thanks! Like any of these accessories, I'd also
need the mounting bars and the luggage rack, which would be closer to
$300.
I went down to my local MC repair/sales center. He sells parts and
repairs MC. He worked up a package price for saddle bags,
backrest/luggage, and windshield installed which comes to about
$450-600 less than Hondaline parts instaleld by a Honda dealer.
I had planned to cobble the parts together myself, but with his package
price installed, I said what the heck.

I've totally tricked my bike out using parts that I've gotten from this
site.

Carol,
I did discover this site after I posted this thread last month and have
since bought things from them. I've put on a backrest/luggage, engine
guards, saddle bags, windshield, and several chrome accents. So far,
that's $1000 in add-ons and I've calculated that I could easily spend
another $1,000 for a lightbar and other stuff.
I really like their user reviews, too.
Here are some pix of my bike now...

Hondaline is hondaline which should have a part number. Anything not
hondaline will not be the same, but could be close.
The honda acc I have picked up were very high quality. Anything
aftermarket should be looked at in person if possible to determine if
they are any good...I've seen a lot of hack acc for bikes that I
wouldn't take for free.
|
That's the problem for me... I've not found anybody 'round here who
carries aftermarket acc for Hondas. They all seem to be Honda delaers
who carry the real thing. I may have to pay the pricet and buy the real
thing.

Good, I am all for supporting local shops. Because without local shops we
would all be required to be wrench monkeys.
I have no problem paying for skill and support. Especially local help.
