Hand guards for a Honda VFR

It is cold in Seattle, and it's only getting colder. And rainier. So
snip

I'm considering adding hand protection to my '98 VFR.

I've heard of some people using handguards off of Suzuki's VStrom, but
it looks that the handguards will bump into my fairing when the
handlebars are at full lock. So I'm hesitant to shell out $50 for
parts on a solution that won't work.

Another option is to use something like this:

Sounds flimsy (attaches with velcro?) but maybe they work?... These
are semi-soft, so even if they touch the fairing it's no big deal.

Does anybody have any experience with either of these solutions? Or a
different method, maybe? Input appreciated.
There are heated gloves available. You just need a way to plug yerself
into your bike.
Also folks have been known to install heated grips from snowmobiles
onto thier bikes.
Some even fitted heated grips for motorcycles onto their motorcycles :-)
Haha! I crack me up! LOL! Don't listen to me Nikita.
What the heck to I know about 'em? I live in a friggin' desert 'n don't
need 'em!

I've used 'em on snowmobiles up in the Sierras though. They work good.
Heat grips are also marketed for bikes only. For example, louis.de has
affordable models available and I have them and they have worked well so
far.
