I coulda bought a Honda
|
But I didn't. Ya'll grab a round on what little cash I've got left,
while I try to come to terms with what I've done. I've been thinking
|
Pretty bike! Good on ya. Nothing quite brings the same smile as a new
bike. Going to be riding it to Smiley's?
|
Not me, but Kenny will. Unless he mis-behaves between now and then...
|
Kenny? Nahhhhhh just keep him away from da hard stuff

about buying another bike for a couple of months now. I've got a bike I
can ride anywhere, and we really need one that Kenny can do the same on.
I was thinking that if I got another Honda, a bigger Honda, that I could
ride it when I felt like it, and Kenny could ride it when he needed to.
Then Sue posted about the Nightster... Thanks a lot! I really liked it
alot. I set it as the wallpaper on my desktop, and showed it to Kenny
when he came in. We both really liked it, and thought we'd go see if we
could see one in person. Tampa Harley had one, in orange and black. It
feels good, sits good for both of us. Did we buy it? No. That would
have been too easy.
We continued wandering around just to see what there was. Saw a really
nice nighttrain, but it was outa the price range. Wandered around a
little more. While Kenny is still talking about the nighttrain, I wander
over to a black beauty just sitting there. Hmmm. I like that! I wonder
how it feels? Sit on it. Feels pretty good. Feet down on both sides,
pretty much like my Magna. (Am I paying attention to the fact that it
has forward controls? No, of course not. I'm still blinded by the
beauty of the black. Or maybe that was the chrome?)
Hey Kenny, come look at this one! He hurries over, says wow, I like
that! The salesman can smell blood... Let me see how much that one is,
he says. He goes away, comes back and names his price... I can do that,
I'm thinking. It's right there where I figured I'd be comfortable. To
make a long story not much shorter, they check the credit, decided I was
worthy, and consented to finance the bike. Got my insurance in order,
signed way too many papers, and tried really hard not to have a nervous
breakdown.
Kenny pulled out of the parking lot on his (our, my) 2004 FXSTI. He says

Congrats to the two of you.
Hope to see you two and the new bike at Smiley's.
|
|
Congrats. I suspect ya'll will get it to fit just fine
|
it rides nice and smooth and has plenty of power. I'm not completely
sure that I'll be able to ride it. I can reach the controls, but it
feels like I might be stretching too far. We'll see, I guess. Becky is
completely upset. Right now it just has a solo seat, so she can't go for
a ride. We've got a line on a 2-up seat that a friend has though, so it
shouldn't be too long til she gets to ride. Something tells me that
riding with Mama just isn't going to have much appeal anymore.
Why don't ya'll grab another round, cause I hate to drink alone, and I
|
Hey, way to go, Rosie! Looking forward to seeing you all again, and the new
ride, too.

could really use another one. Still can't believe I did it. Ya know, we
probably could have gotten 2 really nice Hondas instead of the Harley...
But Kenny just wouldn't have been as happy. I swear if his grin
gets any bigger, it'll meet in the back!
|
Rosie,
congrats on the new scooter. good for you!

street shortly.

Went and looked, sweet. Good on ya, yer air cleaner's gone missing though
|
Thanks Maggie. I just don't know about that air cleaner... Seems like
everyone seems to think something's missing. Do you think I should take it
back and ask the salesman? Naw, he wouldn't know.

I happen to have a nice Mustang comfy seat in my possession, I could let it
go pretty cheap, since it belongs to Fish head Dave
|
Er, was Fish Head Dave in the Navy?
|
Did 16 years worth and got out on the voluntary separation incentive
program in April of '92. Had 4 years broken service with my first hitch
starting in '72. Why do you ask?
|
A friend of a friend was nicknamed Fish Head. I met him once in San Diego.
He was a PH. Our mutual friend was Jesse Lawson.
That you?
|
No, I was an electrician's mate. I seem to have picked up the Fish Head
moniker during a fishing trip in the gulf back when I first got to
Florida. Kickstart is the only one that uses it so considering the
source it doesn't carry a whole lot of weight. Personally; I'd rather be
known for my brewing abilities than a minor aberration during a fishing
trip.
|
You fellated a fish?
|
He's a tuna, what'd you expect?
|
That's pretty aberrant.
|
Well, yeah! I'd have to confess to that.

are ya talkin bout Davey, that's still in the Navy ?
