07' FLHTCU Ultra Classic

I am looking for a 07 Ultra Classic, Fuel Injection, 1584cc Twin Cam 96. I
am trying to find out what the average mpg is for this bike? I presently
ride a 2000 Dyna Covertible and average at 46.5 mpg commuting to work. I
like the bike and the way it performs. The problem is MY performance, my
60 year old bones are not taking the pounding that well these days. So I
thought I would try the FLHTCU as the last bike before riding off into the
sunset.

I commute 80 miles to work and it is all interstate riding. Thanks in
advance for your comments.
had an 02 Ultra classic got around 42 mpg. Now ride an 06 electric glide 62
miles round trip to work and get around 35 mpg.
I thought they stopped making the convertible in 97, or maybe I just stopped
looking at them because I liked the Ultra better, only I don't really need a
c.b. since I never used it.
I commute 75 miles to work on my Ultra, I'm getting about 40 mpg right
now, but I'm always wfo.
I am 55 years old and recently purchased a 07 Ultra. I've put several
thousand miles (mostly highway) on 'er to date. The bike that I own
does generate transmission noise at low RPM in 5th gear. There is some
discussion that this is due to spur-cut gears. Sixth gear is great for
economical gas mileage; a recent 360 mile road trip had the bike
Harleys suck

averaging 50+ MPG @ 65 MPH! It is heavy but no more so than
say.........a Gold Wing. An acquaintance recently broke his wrist
trying to support a Gold Wing when it, "went over" at a stop sign.
Engine heat might be a concern depending on locale and driving
conditions (stop-n-go). I'm in Nova Scotia (Canada) and it is not a
concern ......... some days the added heat swirling around the fairing
is welcome (Arizona eat your heart out). The motorcycle has lots of
power and is eye-fetching. I'm not positive, but I think the 1600cc
engine is the largest commercial air-cooled on the market at this time
(Screaming Eagle notwithstanding). I believe any air cooled engine of
this displacement that meets EPA specifications would most likely
suffer a degree of design problems. This is not mentioned as an
excuse. I'm sure Harley could quite easily design a water cooled
engine.......... the question is..........would it still be a HD,
Good grief! That's depressing!
Well, I am 57 also, 5' 10'' and now 195 lbs (down from 260 lbs last
summer).

I don't have any problems with the Ultra. I balance it ... not muscle it.
I actually feel more in control of it now, as compare to when I was a fatty.
:-)

hmmmmmmmmmm? I believe the Gold Wing is the best high speed touring
motorcycle in the world ....... Japanese engines are very
exotic .......... they also (all?) become mundane very quickly. As a
HD owner yourself, the Ultra will hold no surprises for you. That
being said I believe it is best employed on the highway, at speeds
around 65-70 mph. If the performance that I am receiving to date
continues, I'll be a happy camper (cost notwithstanding).
