Which non-sportster is most standard?
|
Which of the non-sportster, non-porsche, Harleys is closest to being a
"standard" motorcycle?
I've never had a Harley. It is time.
I want a normal motorcycle. I want the simplest bike possible with a
normal seat height, normal bars, normal foot peg location. I don't
want a bagger or a lifestyle statement. I don't want my feet out in
front of me. I don't want my ass on the ground. I don't want my arms
up in the sky.
I grew up on "standard" bikes. Cushman, Mustang, Lambretta, Ducati,
Norton, Triumph, then a long string of Jap "standard" bikes. When I
was a teens and twenties guy, I was always in the market for a
Sportster, but it never happened.
Now I want a big Harley, but I still want one that, to me, comes close
to being a normal motorcycle.
I realize the term "normal" means wildly different things to different
groups of folks, especially the two-wheeled community, so I don't mean
to ruffle any feathers.
I just don't know much about Harleys. I just know that I want one and
I want one that fits my riding style,... a riding style for a guy that
learned about motorcycles on a Norton Atlas and a Triumph Bonneville.
Thanks for any info.

I think all experienced Harley Davidson owners would agree that it's
the FXCWC Rocker C.

First off .. if you want a "normal" bike .. Harleys aren't "normal".
However .. right off I'd suggest a Dyna .. that's about as close to what you
describe
without getting into the heavier bikes. They ride nice and are a good all
around town
and highway bike. I've had a couple Sportsters, a Dyna and now an EG. I ride
a
lot on the highway and the Electra Glide is easier on my tired old body.
Go to a dealer and sit on all of them and see what fits.

I think its time for a trip to your local HD dealer. Sit on them, test ride
it and see what works for you????
