I won the Low Rider
|
Everyone, drinks on me. I'm celebrating and drowing my sorrows. I won
the Low Rider I was talking about the other day. Winning bid was
$10700 for a 2003 Dyna Low Rider. FXDL I think they're called. It's
got 16K miles on it.
This is a bit complicated because my sweet understanding wife and I
are having kid number 4 in 2 weeks and she's not keen on me being away
in case the baby comes early. So I'm hoping the sellers will let me
pay for it and store it for me for a bit. I know someone close enough
to there who won't mind checking on it for me to make sure it exists.
With this scenario, I'll fly to SLC and ride back home. Another option
is to go down with a pickup truck and truck it back like I did with my
softail. The advantage there is that me and my buddy can switch places
driving and get back sooner. Disadvantage is that I don't get the 2
days of bike road trip.
I'm pretty happy about having 2 bikes in the garage to choose from.
I've wanted a Harley-Davidson since I was a kid, and I'm going to end
up with 2 for a bit.
You know what's bugging me the most about the dyna? No forward
controls. If I keep it I'm going to be pretty low on cash since it's
worth more than my '95 softail on the used market here and I might
take a loss on keeping it. Therefore, I might have to wait a bit
before doing that to the bike.
Thanks for listening.

The FXDL does have forward pegs though so you get the best of both
IMHO.
The handling is much better with the mid controls and now you get a
choice of places to put your feet.
