Are Triumph and Indian bikes "accepted"
|
I know that most Harley clubs let various other custom chopper owners
ride with them. Is the exact criteria posted somewhere? In particular I
was curious if older Triumph and Indian bikes were accepted.
|
Absolutely not.
You MUST own a Harley to be "accepted" anywhere, even in the Honda,
Triumph, Indian, and etc.. "only clubs."
Therfore, you should really consider purchasing my bike now for $13...
er .. $14.500!
Contact me at mailto:scratchnsniff1957@yahoo.com for directions on how
to hand over the cash and drive my '03 FLHTI away.

Define "Harley Clubs".
|
I see several riding groups in my area that ride up and down a scenic
route (near Ringwood, NJ). The all have big-ass Harleys and Big Dog (or
similar) bikes. I'm not ready to operate a full size cruiser yet and am
looking for a mid-size Triumph on eBay. (I did try a Sportster, but
wasn't very comfortable riding it).
|
Ok, is it a group or a club? If you're not sure, you're not ready to
ride with either.
|
I didn't know it was SO complicated. Where can I find this info so I
can be cool like you?
|
Start with reading all books written by Zerna Sharp.
While you will never be "cool as others", it will help you, regardless.
|
|
New to riding? Sure seems like it. If telling the difference between a
group and a club is too difficult, riding in either is more than likely
beyond your skills for now.
Take the MSF course, get a cheap bike and learn to ride alone. You'll
probably meet people while riding. Don't jump in over your head.
Or, if you want to shorten the learning curve, find a group of riders
all wearing patches on their backs, listing the area or "territory"
they're from, and fall in with them. When they stop, ask the leader if
you can join the "bros" at the clubhouse.
|
Well... As for guys wearing patches on their backs etc, there is one
group I can think of that you would probably not be able to fit in
with. H.O.G. (Harley Owners group) And that also helps to keep the
club/group issue clouded since it's a club that calls itself a group.
My personal opinion is that you should just find people you like to hang
with, club or not. If it's any kind of club or group and they like you
you will be asked to join. Whatever happens, just ride with people you
like. I'm not a club kinda person except when my son ticks me off.

There are no exact criteria for all Harley clubs. It always depends on
the club. Get your info from the club you want to ride with.
|
|
well, Ron, the bikes will certainly be accepted, you may even be
|
if they don't accept you and your triumph.
you don't want to ride with em anyway...
|
I think it was Groucho Marx that said "I don't want to join any club that
would have ME as a member"!!
|
Wasn't exactly how I put it to a guy when he mentioned that he needed to
talk to me about the club he rode with... If the club life is what he
wants, fine with me. It isn't for me. Doesn't make much difference what
club it is. If they're OK with that, I am too. The ones that are friends
remain that way, club or no club.

if your mechanical skills are not any larger than your riding skills
you defineately do not need a used trimuph unless you have $$ to burn.
I am courious as to the issue with the sportster as they can be
configured for all size people and some dealers (Bruce Rossmeyer's
Group) will buy a sportster back within one year (less tag, tax & title
$$). Go try a 600 cc honda V-twin cruiser as they are cheap and fairly
bulletproof and

Start your own club like I did some 10 years ago. We're up to 2 members
now. Just the way I like it.
|
Yer gut don't count as a second person, Al!

You're saying his gut is a 'hangaround'? :)

Then why does it eat so much? I otta be able to use it as tax deduction.

thanked for the donation...as you are flyin' out the door (watch the
