how quick is an 883 sporty?
Standard out of the crate, would about 110 MPH or so be accurate?

It's possible to get one up to that speed but there's nothing in the
bike design that suggests this is a good idea. It would help to ensure
the tire pressure is correct, the exhaust and air intake are reasonably
tuned, and that the rider has his/her chin parked down behind the
handlebars and the left hand grasping anything but the hand grip.

Have read the words, "108 MPH uphill, and fully loaded!" more than once
in RMH, so I had to see if Boreas (a 2001 883 Sporty) could do that. He
did. And, yeah, my chin was parked down behind the handlebars while my
right hand held the throttle wide full open for a seemingly "forever"
kinda time as the bike creeeeeped up to that speed.
Once I hit the 108 mark, though, I quickly chickened out, er, I mean
regained a small portion of my already limited intelligence. Note,
however, that the bike was NOT going uphilll (a wide open stretch of
highway without exits or onramps) and the only load was my (at that
time) 170-pound self.

I did it 30 years ago on a 750 honda on PCH in Huntington Beach, CA. It
was a bad idea then, too. Those little bikes are pretty twitchy at those
speeds.

I had a CB550 that I had up to a hunnert, but my bike foolishness is
something I rarely indulge.

I think you wanna know the top end speed, right?
My wife has a stock 2005 883L with a windshield and I've been with her
at at least 90 MPH. She later told me she had more throttle left and
could have gone faster.

I had an 86 883 that I had at least at 105 before backing off. Had over 20k
miles on it at the time.
