I want a Guzzi
|
Am I insane?
I have been seeing one or two Calafornias over here at the moment and they
look ideal for the Missus to go on the back on as she now refuses point
blank go get on a Sprot bike.

4 or 5 years ago.
|
No, longer than that, because the FI Cali I tested was in 1997. So at
least a decade.
|
Cali III of 1988 was the first, which had FI as an option.

Loads of custom style Guzzis at less than £2k.They tend to sell for less
than a similar 'road' model.
custom ones listed.
Try to get 850cc or higher, the 750's are not so good, with weaker
gearboxes too.
|
The 750 is a complete different engine. The older carbed Calis have 30mm
carbs, which are OK. Anything bigger than that requires a right wrist
like Hercules to open.

I dont mean a new one, but something for a couple of grand or less that will
stand being pootled about on with the odd trip to the UK.
I quite fancy the open face lid and engineer boot look too :)
Ebay doest throw much up, so whats the best bet to try and get one, or is
this a path that I really dont want to go down?

An offer of ?15k would probably give him something to think about, but
there was talk of it going for auction in New York, & I don't know how
far down the line that's got. I can let you know in about 5 weeks if
you're interested.
|
Certainly could be. What exactly what is the nachine?
|
It's a prototype designed by Terry Prince (ex Egli engineer & Vincent
guru). Sadly they went bust before going into production, but my
parent's company were going to be the european distributor, & got
what's believed to be the only complete bike. A few details:
