New Bike
|
Decided to buy an SV650 - have the cheque - pick up friday.
|
Brett what made you decide on the SV I tried one a few days ago SV650S
I found it not at all bad but not a pillion bike at all .
the only thing that put me off this one was it had 35 K on the speedo
and new discs all round
it didnt add up so I walked.
I am looking at ZR750 as well which would/should be a better pillion
proposition.
Anyone got usefull opinions on either bike?
TIA

I posted this the other day, but a mate of mine's got an SV650S to sell.
Over 20k on the clock, but in immaculate condition. Located in the Blue
Mountains, near Sydney. I think it's a 2001 model, yellow, with Staintunes
and possibly a rack/pack system. He's upgraded and needs to reclaim garage
space. Dunno what he'd take, but he was asking over $7k - maybe $7500 (??)
without success. He did comment that it wasn't a great pillion bike, but he
and his wife still managed to pillion successfully. Besides, his current
bike is even less pillion friendly, IMHO and they manage to use that. ;^)
If you're interested, contact me via email - t (dot) fathers (at) gmail
(dot) com and I'll pass on his details.

My wife suggested I keep the R80 as a project bike and do it up bit by bit
as I get the money.
I said who are you? and what did you do with my wife?
Not a bad plan I have all the time in the world to do it - now all I need is
the workshop, tools, skill and cash.

So you post to the ng saying "SV650 or Z750" and get 1/3 of the
responses saying "Z750", the next 1/3 saying "you're evil, fix the
Beemer" and the rest offering other alternatives none of which are
Suzuki, and you buy the SV650?
|
What's wrong with that? I always ask this group and then do the
opposite. More often than not, it turns out to be right...
|
If you turn over bikes that quickly when you're making the right choice
one can only speculate how long you'd keep your bikes if you made the
wrong choices... days... hours ???

Hmmm .... the bikes I've kept for the longest are the ones I still own
Cant bear to see a good one go.
Bevel SS 20yrs
Boxer 100 11yrs
748 5yrs(It's the spring chicken of the bunch)
|
I think about 4 years is the longest I've gone but if you add up my three
XJ900s it would probably be 10 or so.
|
If you're going to add them up I've had my Guzzi California for 30
years. The engine size has increased twice though.
|
I really really wanted to keep the R1100GS a bit longer than the 18-or-so
months that I had it before it got written off!

Glad we could help.

The Z750 is without question faster and better handling but I'd take the
SV650 instead of the Z750 anyday too.
By choosing the twin despite all of this he is showing that he percieves
that elusive quality called 'character' :)

I reckon he did.
He asked our advice, got it and made the correct decision which was to
do the opposite of what we advised him.
I reckon he did well in that case.
