New Bike shopping Day 1
|
I went to two dealers this afternoon or 1 Euro dealer I've know for
years and the megastore across the street to price a new SV-650 @ ~
$6000 OTD for a standard new one. The Euro dealer also had a used 06/w
6K miles "SV-650" for only $400 less. Next, I looked at mainly
Ducati's and price on a 1000 Sport @ $10,900 OTD. We started this one
a it seemed very smooth or SV like and had a "quiet" dry clutch. Greg
said he could adjust the ride height for me and it only weighted about
385 dry. I also looked at the Paul Smart special, the Multi Strada
(very tall but adjustable on the Ohlins & triple clamp) and a new
Guzzi Breva that had a perfect seat height & godd balance but was
$12,600 OTD.
Now I gotta look at the used market. Any idea's on where to find a
good used common bike?

Used bikes bring up EVERYTHING. I think with $3000 in your hand you can
snare a Gen I sv650, easy. Another $1500 for shock, forks and brake upgrade,
luggage racks, done deal.

Yeah, I got that same speech except the wife used the term POS alot to refer
to the two Suzuki's. Having been forced to rescue me hasn't made her
gracious towards my well kept, older bikes.
So I got the KLR new instead of the used I would normally do. The KLR is a
known quantity though.

My sv has worked out pretty good for a used bike ( mine was cream puff when
I bought it with 3000 miles on it ), the DL ( a known bike from a friend )
and the Gixxer 750 ( creampuff used ) all worked out well. The 1100 not as
well, in terms of money spent, and still needing to spend more.

Did you look at the Monster 620?

Craigslist.com?
There is a used GT1000 here in SLC for $7999 with 1600 miles. I'd deliver
it for you.
