Enfeild

There is a DND (Department of National Defense) building not far from
where I live. Every morning, I see this guy, in military fatigues,
riding to work on what looks like a military issue Enfield. It might
even be vintage. There is no chrome whatsover on that bike, and the
emblem says only "Enfield", not "Royal Enfield". It's quite a sight!
Saw one at a dealer recently.
Check the rear brake and shifter -- the originals are left foot brake
and right foot shift. (typical backward British.) The new Indian
And you'd know what's typical backwards British? You wouldn't know
traditional from new if it slapped you on your bare head.

The new Indian

Enfields are modified to modern standards. (the right foot brake
lever pivots under the bike to operate a left side brake.)
They're not modified at all, they're BUILT that way and have been for years.

Ask. If it is an original it will give him great pleasure to inform
you. (like the guy I saw shooting an original trapdoor Springfield.)
