How long d'you reckon it'd take on the tube from Liverpool Street to
Waterloo early-ish (circa 8am) on a Saturday morning?
Journey Planner reckon's 34 minutes, which seems excessive to me.
|
Tube to Bank and then Waterloo and City.
W&C 1st train 0805 on Sat.
5 mins to walk to tube and get tickets
5 mins wait for train
3 min journey
5 min interchange
10 min wait for train
3 min journey
5 min walk to platform
= 34 minutes If the Drain is actually running.
2 min run to tube
0 wait
3 min journey
2 min run interchange
0 wait
3 min journey
2 min run
= 12 mins If the Drain is actually running.
Your choice - how lucky do you feel today:-)

You seem to have already fallen across all the problems.
W&C line is closed Saturdays for the rest of the year so no good.
If you insist on going into Liverpool St I would actually take the 26
bus from there to Waterloo. Nowhere near as slow as you might imagine.
|
I thought that - isn't it one of those express jobs with no/limited stops?
|
The 26 is a standard stopping service from Hackney Wick to Waterloo. It
runs via Bank, Mansion House, St Pauls, Fleet St, Aldwych and then over
to Waterloo.
There are no Red Arrow buses from Liverpool St anymore. There used to be
the 502 via St Pauls and Fleet St and the 505 via Old St, Clerkenwell
and Holborn but they both went years ago.

Thanks, this thread has cured my insomnia.

Otherwise Central Line then Northern Line at Tottenham Court Road.
Otherwise train to Seven Sisters then Vic Line then cross platform to
the Bakerloo at Oxford St. Other less convenient changes are to the
|
that's exactly what we're going to do, though I'll catch a cab to
Edmonton Green to get the 07:13 as, the later train from Enfield Town
is too late, and the other half can't believe in the concept of
getting the 6:23 out of Enfield Town.
|
I think I can sympathise for a Saturday morning! I assume you're
getting the 08.39 out of Waterloo? Tubes from Seven Sisters should be
pretty frequent and the Bakerloo is about every 5 mins that time of day
at Oxo.
If you are returning on Sunday do note that the Vic Line is suspended
for engineering works between Highbury and Warren St so you will need to
take the Bakerloo to Picc Circus, Picc Line to Finsbury Park and then
cross platform to the Vic Line to Seven Sisters. It may even be worth
your while to simply go through to Oakwood or Southgate on the Picc and
get a cab home.
I do hope that was not too boring for everyone.
Have a good time and don't drink too much Belgian Beer.

Northern at Warren St or the Jubilee Line at Green Park.
HTH but I expect you'll slum it in a taxi.
|
|
Quicker by bus - there's an express one from LS to Waterloo, as I recall.
Oh. Wait. I see the problem. You've got engineering works and closures.
Yeah, take the 26 bus.
|
"bus". Hah. I think I'll just take a cab the whole way from Enfield
Town, as I've also noticed One appear to have cancelled the 6:53 (and
6:23 is a bit early and 7:23 a bit late).
|
Heh. Me, I'd drive it, I can't abide the Tube or those evil bendy busses.
Erm.... can't you change at Tottenham Hale or summat for the Northern Line?
(Where are you starting from?)
|
Enfield Town.
I'm not driving it, 'cos I don't fancy trying to arrange parking for
the Jeep from tomorrow morning until Monday night.
|
Fair enough. In that case, I'd say the 26 bus.

Integrated transport: it's great.

I'm doing a journey up north tomorrow which involves three changes, and three
train companies I've never heard of. And probably one of those Leyland
|
Who are they? You know you can go first class on GNER KX - Glasgow for
about £30 if you book ahead so probably less if you're only going to York.
If you're going pleb class you can upgrade for £10 (might be £15 for
journeys past Donny) - worth it alone for the free WiFi.

Take the tube from Liverpool St. to St. Paul's, then walk the rest via
the Millennium bridge.
