Possible trip details.

I am preparing to spend money. Money on things I'm not used to spending
money on. Like TOURING junk, plus some SS brakelines just for fun.
Then I'm going to try on boots and pants and gloves. My last good gloves got
wrecked at the track, I have lots of motorcycle boots, but none which are
waterproof, and I might consider some nylon pants to go with my Joe Rocket
jacket.
I have considered 3 routes, one down south through the BlueRidge and Ozarks,
another north past the Buell twins, and a third one which is shorter and
might be perhaps mildly historical, which is US50 from Ohio to Colorado. It
pretty much doesn't convert to interstate anywhere, so it'll be slower
going, but it will have lots of old travel type stopping places leftover
from when US50 was a REAL road.
I still might consider the southern route for its pure scenic value, but it
adds about 100 miles/day to the riding. Not much, but seeing as how this is
my first 500+ multi day trip, I thought US50 might be more reasonable for a
newby.
Also, there is the chance that I will repeat this cross country feat again
in July. By then, the coolness of the northern stretches might look better
than Oklahoma and Arkansas in early July.
