New 2008 Buell 1125R

How's a 146HP & 84LB/FT of torque sound? :)
.=2E

They are unveiling it at Road America tomorrow as well as the dealer
meeting.
Nice pic here.

I think the venerable Firebolt is much easier on the eye.
That is because with the Firebolt you don't have to deal with trying
to hide those ugly radiators. I would love a Bolt with Lightening
ergoes. That would be the ultimate bike for me other than my Cyclone.
I think overtime Saddle you will start to like the looks of the new
Buell though even with those ugly shrouds.

I agree.... The radiator pods are a bit strange looking from the side.
But they are made of syrlin plastic(very pliable and tough plastic) that
double as frame/gas tank protectors/sliders.

I've got a TON of pics of the bike. But I haven't had time to upload 'em
yet.

Looks like no man sized version for 2008 though :(
Nope. The 1125R does look physically larger than the firebolt however.

On another note... My "ulybolt" was a big hit this weekend at the Buell
"Homecoming" festivities.
W.O.W. Can't *wait* for the full road test (and the test ride!)
I'll be able to ride the 1125R at Road America for the October "Inside
Pass"(Buell's sponsored track day). I can't wait! :)
Very nice. You know how much fuel that thing'll hold? Also, is it on
the stretched frame or the original?
"The frame will continue to double as the fuel tank but with more
capacity, 5.6 gallons. Wheelbase is 54.5 inches, longer than the 52-
inch wheelbase of existing Buell Firebolts".........

"Buell Motorcycle Company plans to announce its latest sportbike to
the world Sunday, July 9, in conjunction with its international dealer
meetings, but unauthorized photos, video and details of the new
machine were published by an overseas press outlet today.

The new Buell is powered by a water-cooled, 1125cc, 72=BA V-Twin built
by Rotax. The engine is said to produce 146 horsepower at the
crankshaft with 84 lbs.-ft. of torque and a redline of 10,500 rpm. The
bike has a six-speed transmission and is equipped with a slipper
clutch. The frame will continue to double as the fuel tank but with
more capacity, 5.6 gallons. Wheelbase is 54.5 inches, longer than the
52-inch wheelbase of existing Buell Firebolts, and the bike has an
upgraded version of the Zero Torsional Load single-disc brake system.

Buell will officially release information and photos of the new
machine Sunday."
5.6 Gallons of fuel. And it is on the stretched chassis.

I'll be at Road America today, so I'll take plenty of photos.
That's cool.
Two American co's unveiling new models the same day.
This bike just made our bikes even more worthless. I bet you are
sorry you bought the TT.Thanks for the links.
Why would I be sorry? The bike I built out of the TT is what *I* wanted.
A modern S3T of sorts.

As you know, last week was the Buell homecoming rally. Erik Buell was
playing with his band at a bar in Racine on Wednesday night. During an
intermission, he saw me out in the parking lot, and asked "Is it here?".
The expression on his face was priceless. It was like a kid at
Christmas. He walked over to my bike, took it in for a minute, and
commented on how it looked like it rolled off their assembly line the
way I've done the bike up with the Ulysess tail, and firebolt front end.

Then at the factory on Friday, EVERY Buell engineer looked over the bike
inch by inch and complemented me on it. One even commented, "You should
be working here" :)
I want a job too. This seems like an easy fix to me, but may not be
possible. Would the Firebolt rear end fit on the XB12s? The rear end
of the Bolt is about as clean a design as there is on a sportbike.
Why the streetfighters get that horrible Doberman tail crop job, I'll
never understand.
Yup. It's an easy, direct bolt on for the firebolt tail on the lightning.
Yeah, but that's not the s version. Is the subframe the same for both?
Sub frame is different between the two. The Firebolt tail is longer.
The bike in the picture is a 2003 XB9s, with a firebolt sub frame & tail
section.
I meant to say...is there a difference between the XB9s and the XB12Ss
subframe. My ideal would be to bolt the Firebolt tail to the later.
Ahh, yes, there is a difference. The spacing between the bolts that
attach the frame from a "short" to the subframe from a "long" chassis
are about an 1/8" off.

See Mike, I've known about the 1125R for almost 2 years. Not all the
details, but I've known about it. I don't NEED the 146HP. The 100HP of
the air cooled lump does just fine for it's intended purpose in my bike.
They did with their liquid cooled vtwin. Think Buell will win the World
Superbike Championships this next year with theirs?
I refuse to drop $11G's on a trackbike. But I would drop $11G's on a
streetbike which I occasionally take to the track. We're getting a new one
out here in Colorado.
I will hold my breath until it shows up.

I'm pleased with it's performance, and have no desire for any more. In
fact I may take the "race kit" muffler off the bike. It's a tad louder
than I'd like.

Will I buy an 1125R? Most likely in 2-3 years. The wife and I talked
about it last night, to buy one as a track bike.
The neatest thing about the video you provided was the noise. It sounded
good. Its still "Buell ugly", but at least he's now getting with the program
by dumping the problem with all his bikes to begin with.
