Choppin' the Buell

Drinks are on me, I'll have a Corona. Been
busy in the shop all day. Looks like the scene
of an accident. Parts scattered everywhere.
I should have it ready to remove the neck some
time tomorrow, so I can get it shipped to the frame
builder this week. Looking at a 3 week wait for
the new frame. That'll give me time for a new
motor mount and battery for the bagger.
Pics next door.
That was quite entertaining, too. I was tempted to jump in, but I'da
been a minor league player among the pros. Some pretty good stuff. Glad
she's gone.

Cool stuff Frito! Looking forward to someone's progress on a project -
since mine is idle as usual...
So far so good. Ain't anything quite as much fun as building a bike.
Well, a few things are, but building a bike lasts a lot longer.
Whatcha gonna do for paint? That's a ways off, but I'm still curious.

I'm not sure. Maybe all black in a dull semi flat finish.
My kid screamed Nooooooooo. Another option is
black frame and dark grey tins to match the Buell
wheels. I'm open to suggestions. The engine is
one of the raw aluminum/silver painted type, the
wheels are dark grey, and I'll be using a raw
aluminum oil tank. Ideas? I haven't painted anything
since high school, but I'm thinking of giving it a try.
Flames, of course!
heh heh....backwards flames I say!
Ever seen these guys? Cool flames! Er, hot flames ...

I saw another site awhile back, but can't find it now. It had several hot
rods, bikes, even a helo painted with realistic looking flames.

I had a buddy in high school that drove a 1956 Chevy wagon. He painted
it red, white and blue. He measured it off in thirds from front to back
and painted the front third red, the middle white and the last third
blue. Didn't follow any body lines or breaks in any panels. Just
divided it up and squirted it. Looked pretty cool actually. You might
try that on the Chopper.

(Personally, I like the flat black idea.)
Reminds me that I had flat black rattle-can on the Whatzit early on. I
thought it looked tough, would have looked even better if it had been
shot thicker with a gun. My bud was a painter and he kept bugging me
to let him do something. So I said have at it.

I got back gloss black with big-assed silver and red metalflakes.
Yeech.

The next time I saw his bike it was painted flat black.

Serves me right.
Flames , Flames , I say !
If I can do it , you can do it , Frito . And it seems I can do it ...
