Chest protection

Went off the bike in Labrador, bruised my ribs, couldn't ride for a
while and the rest of the trip wasn't much fun.

Decided it's time to get some chest protection.

Thinking about the BMW Protector Jacket
pads everywhere I got hit that a jacket would cover, the TPro Rib
Icon Field Armor vest
or the Tipperary Air Esprit
which supposedly far exceeds any CE standard, or the Cycleport BodyGuard
jacket

I'd be wearing any of these in conjunction with a BMW Rallye 2 Pro
jacket which provides shoulder, elbow, and spine protection--with the
BMW Protector jacket I'd zip out the Rallye 2's armor liner, not sure
how I'd mix and match with the Cycleport.

Does anybody have any experience with any of these they'd like to
relate? Accounts of real-world get-offs would be very helpful.
Looked at the Icon Field Armor and the BMW Protection Jacket. The Icon
had back protection but the armor on the ribs seemed to be very thin.
The Protection Jacket has pads right on the spot where my rib is
healing, but they aren't very heavy, still there would have been _some_
protection there. The Large size will fit me and zip up but it's a
struggle--once zipped though it's skin tight and comfortable. The
dealer's ordered an XL for me that I'll try when it comes in.

The Tipperary dealer was closed today, I'm going to give them another
shot when I've got some free time.
