BMW R1200C questions
|
I just bought a 2002 BMW R1200C and have a few questions for anyone with
r1200 experience--
1. the self-cancelling turn signals automatically turn off after about 5 or
6 seconds even stopped---so I have to keep pushing the switch if at a long
light waiting for a turn. Is this normal? can it be adjusted--like made
longer or to not turn off at all unless the turn-off switch hit?
2. I haven't found a helmet lock--guess there isn't one--is there an
aftermarket one that'll fit?
3. There seems to be no throttle stop. Is there an easy way rig one?
4. I'm looking for a not-to-expensive plain clear windscreen--any
suggestions appreciated.

My older 1200C was the same. It also rode very hard. So I sold it!
My even older H-D has turn signals that cancel based on distance and speed
ridden. A throttle lock screw and windshield came as standard equipment. I
can also turn my headlights on/off.
Does this suggest a solution?

Canceling the turn signals yourself?

On my old K75, the signals wouldn't cancel when sitting if you were in
1st gear, I think. Any other gear or neutral, and they'd cancel by
time. Er, I think. Its been a while. There was something goofy about
em, that was probably intuitive to a german engineer.

I still have my 1986 K75S, and the signals will not cancel at a stop, no
matter the time or gear. They were set to cancel after either 750 feet
(or about 225 meters), or six seconds, whichever is longer.
So, sitting at a traffic signal, 750 feet is longer, and they would not
cancel.
My 1999 R1100RT has non-self-cancelling signals...

There are a number of dedicated BMW sites, you may well do better there.
