Goretex Rocks
|
Got caught in a torrential downpour. You know the sort, rivers running down
the street, the rain so intense it hurts.
New goretex trousers and jacket and they kept me absolutely dry. What's more
in the sunny bits they were also far more comfortable than leathers and a
third of the weight.
|
What make/model please? I'm in the market for something light,
waterproof, and good armour too.
|
hg cruise, as I have said many times.
|
I'm quite liking the look of this one.. and it's a tad cheaper.
|
Ooh.
|
Egg is out of favour with me ATM - I'm getting a Capital One card with 4%
cashback for the first few months...
|
I've got four unused cards sitting on the bookshelf already. I don't
really feel the need for another.
|
I cancelled my Capital One card a few months ago. "We could offer you a
really cheap balance transfer." "I don't have a balance to transfer. I want
to cancel the card and close the account with immediate effect."
|
They all do that. I'm only interested in x% cashback; or y months interest
free on purchases whilst I get interest on the capital, hopefully at 8% if
the uber-pessimist Vass is right...
|
IME when making a purchase it's a lot less hassle just to ask the
manager "What's the best price you can do for cash?".
|
I've heard you northerners are loathe to give up your feudal practices
|
Got me an 15% discount on my Shoei lid a couple of months ago, that did.
Cash for teh win! ... as the kids might say.
|
Champ had a word for this practice. I can't remember it but it keeps me
amused and slightly better off.
|
"Stoozing"
|
I knew it ended in oozing
|
It's become much harder to make proper money out of it nowadays with
most cards charging 2.5%~3% balance tranfer fees. The typical interest
free period is only 6 to 9 months, so a 3% charge over that period is
barely any better than an ordinary loan.
However, if you put a lot of purchases on a card, "slow stoozing"
|
That is me, that is. Never been one to hurry
|
(http://www.stoozing.com/g_sslow.htm) still works.

Very popular with the R-GS rider. If you ever go on one of the meets
organised via UKGSer you would think it a uniform. Works well apparently
and good value if compared to similar products with a BMW brand. Not sure
if you consider this a good thing, or not :)
Not got one myself as HG never seem to make stuff that fits my odd shape.
My shortish arms and minimalistic neck just don't work with their Teutonic
design.

I have the Halvarssons jacket: it owns. Not cheap, mind, even pre-owned.
