BMW K1100LT - first prob

And that didn't take long.

After a trip in heavy rain, the neutral light/gear position indicator is
having a fit ofthe vapours. Showing 0 in first, 1 in second, and the
neutral light comes on in second, 1 in third, 1 in fourth (neutral light
comes on in fourth too), 1 in fifth, and then after a while in fifth
shows 5, drop down to fourth, shows 4, then as before.

Suggestions? Hog? Timo?
That seems like good advice, or just disconnect or tape over the clocks.
It's only a SOB.
Getting the 'arm out is a doddle on those TOG, if required.
Move to a less pikey bike.
I reckon there's something wrong with it.

It should mist up inside so badly that you can't see the numbers.
LOL..

I finally figured it's the instrument bulbs that cause it. I'm wondering if
its possible to fit LED bulbs in there then there'd be no slight heat build
The clocks can be sorted out for mist. They do a compound to put on the
inside of the glass too. LED's are a good idea though and it would be
easy to do.
I've tried various methods over the years .. .sadly the only "compound" I've
had is fairy liquid :) , is there a factory version then?
I used to put RainX on one set that always used to mist up - the water
would then just run off and down into the mechanism.. Which did cause
other problems but at least I could see the (not moving) needle
clearly.
No Rainex, does have the puddle and condensation and the needle still
moves.

Hooray for Italy!
yet another axis power ;)

It's good for visors too - the rain just streams off and (used on the
inside) helps them to stop misting up.
Fit halogen bulbs - should dry it out a treat.

Any tips on de misting .. ?

Re the LED's I've just found some at 4 quid each, I seem to recall there's 4
bulbs in there so it's a 16 quid try out.
Yes they produce a clear waxy stuff. Or did.
Small hole in the back of the housing with a bit of pourous tape was
what we did i think.
Thanks .. I'll ask the local dealership if its still available

up.
My old K100Rs used to fog its instruments, but I though that they'd
fixed it on later models. Obviously not.
My K1100RS did it from new - I reckon the first stage of the assembly
line was a bloke who breathed into the speedo/tacho unit then sealed it.
