Scooters with roofs
|
Has anyone seen the scooters with Roofs [Saw one the other day]
Did not see seat belts on it
|
I saw one with bmw badges on it parked on Collins st (MELB, AUS) a few weeks
back though I can't see it keeping you dry when a truck passes and also
would be concerned about it catching the wind at wrong angles.
|
Something like this ?
|
From the article:
"The C1 is fitted with twin seat-belts in a "cross your heart" fashion
to keep the rider safely inside the vehicle. "
|
I saw a number of bikes very similar (if not identical) to these in
Munich a few months ago.

BMW make one (made one?), seat belts are optional I believe.
They have not imported them into Australia as far as I know.
There is also at least one other manufacturer making them but it isn't an
integrated, structural system... more a weather shield. Can't think who
that is at the moment.
|
I have vague recollections that Benelli made one too.
Not positive though.

BMW had a few for the track officials at the GP about 5 years ago. Funky
little vehicles!
Aprilia made one too (but I can only find a 3-wheel one).
|
Over the last couple of weeks I've seen a few of the BMW C1s getting
about in Melbourne, South Yarra, Richmond, Toorak area. Red ones & Blue
ones.
Weight up top isn't suposed to be a problem due the construction being
of lightweight composites. One of the ones I saw was wearing a safety
belt, the others not from what I noticed.
BMW did import them, I've seen them in the window of the City Rd
Melbourne dealership.
|
Interesting... they catagorically stated they had no intention of doing so.
Are you sure they weren't imported by the distributor or the dealer?
|
Aido. :)>
