Bad vibrations... ukrm FOAK...
|
Occasionally I get bad vibes through the GS's left handle-bar...
|
As Pip said, Barsnake.
You could also try gel grips (cheaper), or gloves with a gel insert
(though they'll probably feel odd).
|
Any brand name?
|
Some fabric MotoX gloves e.g. Thor, Wulfsports, Greeves have padding. No
idea of it's gel or fibre wadding.

I was told yesterday that by filling my handle-bars with silicon gel
that the vibes would be dampened out... Any knowledge or thoughts on
this appreciated...
|
You could fill the bars, but fitting foam grips would be a lot easier.
I s'pose you'll say you've got heated grips & want to keep them though.

web-search for a product called Barsnake.

BMW GS?
If so, when was the last service? Throttle bodies and/or valves might need
adjusting. I've never had a vibration problem on mine but these are the
|
|
I'd be wary about putting something like that in my bars, just in case
it made a mess or couldn't be removed.
You could try sand, or fine lead shot. Likely to be more effective as a
damping agent, too.
|
Eek, pitched into a bend and all the shot slides into the downwards
bar. Could make for interesting handling with all the weight on one
side of the bar !
|
Err, why would it do that? The forces on the lead in the bar would be
more or less the same as those on the bar and the rest of the bike,
i.e. acting in the plane of the bike, not vertically downwards.
|
Oh, I dunno, I was asleep during planar and vector forces. And the
effects of centripital force are mostly lost on me when it comes to the
effects on a bike's handling.
All I know is, if I took my hands off the bars mid bend, i'd fall off,
largely due to gravity.
|
You know wrong. In fact without the countersteering forces holding the
bike in the lean it would sit up and go straight. Of course, you might
fall off _then_ if the road carries on round the bend...

I'd rather cure the source than the symptom. Not that I can help much ...
