Blue Fingers
|
I HAVE searched the web for THE GROUP and seen reference to silk inner gloves that
may help to alleviate the farking cold finger syndrome that I
experience on the way to work. I don't think that there's such a thing
|
There have been several suggestions, and I haven't bothered to read all the
responses, so I may be duplicating something; firstly, I use Damart
(mailorder ?)
gloves as inners. They specialize in that sort of product. The gloves are
not bulky, and have fine aluminium threads woven into the fabric. I like
them better than some woolen ones that I also have. Think they cost < $20
(?)
As an alternative, in the most recent Ulysses Riding On Mag., p68, the is a
reference to "Widder Electric Gloves"
Suggests thet they are more effective than heated grips.
|
Sounds like you have or are about to have a fit of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
|
Last paragraph: "We can't praise the gloves enough nor the service. Pay
particular attention to the sizing. We ordered one size smaller as suggested
but probably could have ordered a size lower again. BMW style plugs are
available.
|
as winter gloves that actually work, and I don't want to install heated
grips, so the inners seem like a good idea.
I HAVE LOOKED AT ALL THE ONLINE BIKE ACCESSORIES sites that I know of,
but can't seem to find them.
|
that is because online stores in aust are hopeless , they dont list every
single thing that they sell
try the phone next time
|
Short of hitting Elizabeth Street, does anyone know where I can get a
pair?
|
(snow) Ski shops - I used them for a while under my cycling gloves.
Now I wear cheap knit gloves over the top, probably wouldn't work for
you as moto gloves are bulkier.
|
|
I looked on the Aus ebay and none there I can see.Loads on the UK one
over here,
The standard thinsulate ones don't work well for me as I suffer from
job related,"VWF"(Vibration White Finger" soo in addition to good
riding gloves and inners I did this,
however I'm sending for some of these ones hoping they are better than
the standard Thinsulate ones,
HTH :)

kathmandu sells thermals including thermal gloves
|
|
A motorcycle/bike accessories shop not on Elizabeth Street.
Why don't you want to install heated grips?
|
He'll end up installing them eventually, he just likes to start by
ruling out the obvious solution ...

I have been on a camel safari across parts of the world known as
desert.. guess what Arabs use instead of paper :(
|
I'm wondering why you chose to watch... but I really do NOT
want to know!
|
How do you think one performs ablutions in the middle of 50Deg c heat
with nothing but a billion tonnes of sand for company ? ( where did I
mention watching (is that transference))
|
|

Chocolate Mousse?

have you tried a camping store?
|
|
There's a pair in my dresser drawer. I got them about 25 years ago. Try that
thermal wear place whose name I can't currently recall.
I just did a search on _thermal wear silk gloves_ got 623 hits on OZ sites.
Starting with Paddy Palin. web-search is your friend.
|
Ending with Paddy Palin. Not everyone is silly enough nor
rich enough to pay those prices.
|
|
|
Take a look at the synthetic golding gloves as an inner.
|
|
Hi Rod,
Try and track down a pair of Icebreaker Glove Liners - they're merino
wool plus lycra (so they always fit snugly AND keep their shape are
repeated use - unlike silk liners which do neither!!) and they're thin
enough to be worn under your normal motorcycle gloves.
Try the camping stores in Little Bourke Street ...
|
|
I found some at the first motorbike store I walked into when looking for
them.
Not too sure which city you're in, but if you can't find any where you
are, Robbo's Motorcycles in Canberra *may* be able to deliver some to
you. Give them a call on 1800 626216 and ask for Sam. Tell him Alex
sent you.
When you get yourself a set, the best way to use them is to warm them up
before putting your gloves on. I always warm mine up on top of the fire
place for 5 mins, and my fingers are toasty for the 30 minute trip into
work. This is in Canberra temperatures... -5oC yesterday morning.
|
Is that the Melbourne Canberra?
Or is there an Elizabeth street in Canberra that has a motorcycling
precinct?
|
As I said I wasn't too sure which city he was in. Didn't realise there
was an Elizabeth street in Melbourne.
|
No problem sir Lex
It's a long going in-joke.
