There is a hole in my garage...

and it is TL shaped.

Here's the first of the customary "what shall I get?" posts:
Get a decent blade, cracking bike, fast as you like & reliable. Comfy
enough for a big bloke to do 200 miles on without stopping (apart from
the fuel that is) Be warned, they go through tyres like nothing though
if you use sports tyres. I could do with a decent sports/tourer type
tyre as I need a bit longer lasting.

You'll get a very good tidy one for around £2k, service costs are not
expensive either.

Ultimately I'm going to get another Guzzi. In the meantime, I fancy
getting a short-term sports bike that will be a bit of fun and one
that I can sell on with relatively little loss in a few months
(allowing for the time of year).

I've always fancied a Buell, but they're a bit too close to the Tuono
and anyway, selling it on might be an issue.

I've never owned or even ridden a 'Blade, GSXR or R1, so despite my
dislike of fours, I'm tempted to get an older one (SRAD onwards in the
case of a Gixxer) just for the experience and to say that I have owned
one.

Then there's Aprilia and Ducati. An RSV would be logical as I already
know them and they're Vees. Thing is, I've come to the conclusion that
despite being over six feet tall with long-ish legs, I actually prefer
sprotsbikes to be low and Aprilias are quite tall.

Ducati... Hmm. Never owned one of these either. What are they like for
reliability and spares price/availability? I doubt that they can be
worse than Aprilia.

Trouble with the latter is that I suspect that most will be pristine
toys and I don't really 'do' pristine toys, unless I can find one
that's been dropped but isn't bent.
